Galloping with horses
is where my soul rides
there are no saddles
and there are no fence lines
only a hard cool breeze
that flows through our mane
with the soft ground beneath
and the wild open range
we run and we gallop
and we fly like the wind
looking to the distance
as a long lost friend
for galloping with horses
is where my soul rides
there are no saddles
and there are no fence lines.
I feel the freedom of riding a horse without saddle I did a few times when I was young in the paddock on my friends horse Lovely poem Carrie

ReplyDeleteas a long lost friend.. that is so lovely!
I love that your soul gallops with horses, the wind flowing through your mane........no fences, no enclosures......just that vast distance, and the exultation of the ride. Yay!

I'm pretty much in love with these lines. Just perfect, and freeing...
Lovely rounded poem, a sense of leaving and return, and becoming one with horse and wind during the ride.
ReplyDeleteCheck the link over at Poets United, Carrie. I had to hit HOME and then there it was. Beautiful, no matter how many times I read it.
DeleteOkay I will....thank you Susan.
DeleteOh, I'd like a freedom ride
ReplyDeleteA horse definitely symbolizes freedom, pace and strength. A lovely ride through words Carrie :)
ReplyDeleteI like this. When I was a child, some of us kids used to PLAY that we were horses & gallop, gallop, gallop all over the school playground at recess time. We enjoyed the 'wild open range' for 15 minutes at a time.
ReplyDeleteI have that memory as well as a child pretending to be a horse. :-)
DeleteBeautifully profound!
ReplyDeleteWow, this sounds lovely. My wife works for a company which runs horseback safaris in South Africa and Botswana, It sort of mixes up the dancing with elephants and galloping with horses!
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing job she has! That is so cool!
DeleteThis makes me want to ride on a horse Great write!
ReplyDeleteFreedom in that wild horse ride. A beautiful piece of writing Carrie.
ReplyDeleteFreedom resonates through. I can dance with this free spirit.
ReplyDeleteMuch love...
The epitome of freedom!
ReplyDeleteI adore horses and as a child used to pretend I was one and it felt just like this.
ReplyDeleteAnyone who can gallop on a horse without a saddle has my admiration.
